We’ve always tied these heavy weighted stonefly nymphs in our shop, but we go through so many nowadays I had to get Solitude Fly Company to tie our special patterns for us as we couldn’t keep up with demand. All tied with a 7/32” (5.5mm) tungsten bead, some lead wrapped inside the chenille (more on size #4 then size #6), as well as different rubber legs. All our guides use these as our first fly when indicator fishing for steelhead, and they work great for trout in bigger deeper rivers as well (especially the natural coffee/black one).
